Our Commitment to a Greener Future

Wisconsin Converting, Inc. (WCI) was founded in 1987. As a packaging manufacturer, WCI sells its paper products exclusively through a growing list of packaging distributors across North America. The WCI manufacturing facility, located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, houses machines for paper bag manufacturing, equipped with in-line flexographic printing capabilities, as well as post-printing, hot stamping, digital printing, sheer cutting, paper slitting and rewinding machines to provide a wide array of products and services to customers.

WCI offers a complete line of stock and printed bags including Merchandise bags, SOS bags, Gourmet Bags, and Sani-Liner® trash can liners. WCI also manufactures Eco-Shipper®, Eco-Natural®, and Eco-Natural Lite® shipping bags as economical and environmentally friendly alternatives to corrugated boxes or padded and poly mailers.

Wisconsin Converting, Inc. is committed to implementing and promoting environmental sustainability. We have established goals for the continual improvement of the company’s environmental performance and for the prevention of pollution. We aim to reduce the impacts on the environment and help our employees, supplier partners and customers do the same. We are committed to continuously increasing efforts towards a sustainable, circular, and low-waste future. We are dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment by utilizing responsible purchasing practices, lean manufacturing processes, and working towards a paperless office environment. Our founder was honored with an environmental award named in his honor by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

WCI takes our commitment to being good stewards of the environment very seriously. Most of our products are made with 100% recycled fiber content. Some products, like our Eco-Shipper® shipping bags, require extra strength and are a blend of recycled and virgin fiber.

We’ve partnered with reputable paper companies in North America known for their strong commitment to conservation. Most of these mills are certified by either the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) or the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), ensuring rigorous chain-of-custody and sales tracking for both recycled and virgin fiber origins.

Responsible procurement of raw materials and cartons is just one aspect of our environmental dedication. Our production team follows LEAN manufacturing methods and employs a SPEC ink system for precise ink management. This system accurately calculates ink requirements, reformulates excess ink, and any remaining ink is consolidated into black, ensuring minimal waste.

Furthermore, our facility employs energy-efficient lighting to decrease energy consumption and maintenance needs. We prioritize recycling, collaborating with local recycling companies to recycle various materials including light bulbs, aluminum, office and manufacturing wastepaper, and waste oil. We’ve also adopted paper-reduction strategies for internal communications, marketing materials, invoices, and quotes.  WCI has as electric vehicle plug in station for employees along with an on-site E-Recycle drop off to further drive recycling at every level.

Wisconsin Converting, Inc. is proud to provide environmentally responsible printed and plain packaging solutions to distributors for their eco-conscious clients throughout North America.
